30. A Skipper Jimi Video Game!
Introduction
Wow! It's been more than a year since I've posted a proper blog post. My online energies have mainly been devoted to my daily Twitter series, which is all documented and archived in its own section here on the blog: Quest for the Dodo on the Sea of Thieves.
I was also busy with a secret project: a video game starring Skipper Jimi and his search for the Dodos and Golden Eggs! The game launched on June 1st. You can download the game for FREE here: https://skipperjimi.itch.io/silveredshoals
A Dream Becomes Reality
I was first inspired to make a retro-style game about my pirate way back in May 2022, when Rare released a "1989" version of "We Shall Sail Together."
As my own dodo story developed, I began to imagine an adventure that brought Skipper Jimi beyond the Shroud to a new world outside the Sea of Thieves. I imagined Jimi's beautiful 3D ship sailing into the mist on the edges of the Sea of Thieves map and then emerging as a 2D sprite on the other side to the retro rendition "We Shall Sail Together."
Three years after that song first inspired me, that dream became a reality, as you can see in the video below!

The Story
If you've been following the Quest for the Dodo series, you might remember that Jimi spent most of Volume 2 (Year 2) on a mysterious island on the edge of the Sea of Thieves called "Dodo Island" searching for 100 Golden Dodo Eggs. With the help of the community, Jimi was able to recover 87 of these treasures on Dodo Island.
At the end of Chapter 5, however, Jimi learns that a villainous pirate known as CAPTAIN SALTYSTACHE has stolen the final thirteen golden eggs and transported them outside the Sea of Thieves.
In my new game, Jimi pursues Saltystache to his hideout in the Isles of Silvered Shoals.

The Isles of Silvered Shoals?
The Isles are fictional but might be inspired by a real-world location that has its own bit of pirate history and legend. Although I might reveal details in the future, I won't say anymore for now.
